Betty Bedford Horsebox Glamping

The first thing that guests say when they first walk into Betty is ‘WOW!’ Usually followed by, ‘it’s so much bigger than I thought!’. That is the reaction we want!!!

From the outside, Betty looks like an old horsebox, we have left her in her original condition – it makes the step inside even more dramatic!

Betty and Babs are totally separate from the pod field, you are totally self contained and private!

We have repurposed her ourselves, using  as many recycled and upcycled items as possible,  most sourced from the local area. The build was completely organic, and changed as we went along depending on what interesting pieces we came across, but optimising space and comfort was always top of the list!

Above the cab (the luton) is a king size bed with a luxurious Simba mattress, a bespoke headboard made from a local slab of oak, with beautiful blue resin accents.  Above is a sky light, so you can watch our amazing skies whilst still being toasty and warm.

The living space has 2 comfortable sofas, which quickly convert into 2 single beds simply by taking off the throw, and taking the duvet cover out of the pillowcase, so no folding out and having to make your own bed!

The kitchen was built around a reclaimed sideboard, with a vintage jam pan for the sink. The work surface is a combination of reclaimed fencing rails, and a piece of oak from the same tree as the headboard.  There is an induction hob, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and toaster, along with everything you need to prepare and eat meals.

If the weather is chilly, there is a dining table that seats 4, with the chairs neatly slotted in underneath when not in use. But the best place to eat is outside!!!

Underfloor heating makes sure the temperature is to your liking, but she is so well insulated you probably won’t need it during the summer!

Betty is totally enclosed and surrounded by grass and plants, with the most spectacular views across rhe Aeron Valley, and as far north as Snowdonia – the sunrises are truly spectacular!! There is a large gas barbeque, a bespoke table and benches in one area, and comfortable seating around an unusual firepit in another area. In the field next door are your friendly neighbours – some of our horses, that will come and say hello! The woodland at the bottom of the field is home to our resident red kites, buzzards and barn owls, amongst other birds – and they loved to put on a bit of a show, perfect for those who love wildlife photography!

Once the sun has gone down, you need to look up! We are in a dark skies area, so no light pollution, no pictures can ever do it full justice,  it is the perfect place to spot shooting stars!!

Babs is Betty’s friend, and sits next door to her – Babs the bathroom! She used to belong to a local Welsh cob stud, but was no longer road worthy for travelling horses, so we converted her into a beautiful bathroom! There is a very large walk-in shower, with unlimited hot water, basin and a fancy compost loo (looks and behaves like a normal toilet!!)

This is the perfect, quiet place to totally relax and recharge, other than the sound of the animals, there is nothing to disturb you – you could be in the middle of nowhere, yet we are only 2 miles from the town of Aberaeron and the stunning coastline.

Betty sleeps upto 4 people, but due to the nature of the high bed and the veranda, we would say not suitable for children under 4. Upto 2 dogs are welcome, and free of charge.

For those booking the whole pod site, there is also the option of adding Betty to the booking (if available) taking the total number of guests possible to 20, without extra tents/caravan/camper.
